in a venue far removed from time
a woman sits sublimely
content with herself for but a moment
she owns it
the jazz band plays on, lively
it’s lovely to be here tonight
mood lighting painting the room just right
a beam from a window adding soft moonlight
smoke fills the room hazily
weaving around patrons lazily like a lost lover
to discover
her
sitting there
like she always was.
like she’ll always be.
comfortably herself
